A chilly, damp, foggy, mid-February day, definitely coastal in its feel. The next several days are forecast to feature rain and snow and sleet, Oh my!
We’ve been out and about, which has meant my climbing a few stairs. Climbing stairs has, predictably, resulted in me feeling post-polio exhaustion, but happy to have been exploring the wider world.
Last Saturday we went into Boston to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Jennie snagged tickets for a performance by Acronym, part of the Boston Early Music Festival, as well as an early dinner at an Egyptian restaurant. The food was good and the music was simply magical.
Sunday morning we met up with one of her son’s and his wife for breakfast at a very energetic diner. Then we met a colleague who is exploring the world of salons. She is trying to revive their use in the greater Boston area, and we have agreed to host one in a few weeks. Then home to a quiet evening, some warming left-overs, and a couple of hours of watching the Olympics.
This morning we went to our local coffee shop to be social and enjoy some delectables. We also had time to talk over some strategies for teaching “Human Development” which Jennie is scheduled to teach next year. Sitting in our booth, we were able to observe people representing a fairly wide range of ages, which reinforced Jennie’s desire to have students out in their communities watching folks and applying theory to the real world.
Speaking of observing, Nori the Cat has been sitting in the window watching birds and squirrels at the feeder, many awaiting their turn from the relative safety of the trees. We are on the second floor so she has a great view, and she has been chirping and singing happily. I imagine she has fantasies of being out there with them, but no desire to deal with the still thick layer of snow, or the crows.
Last night Robin was finally able to update Windows on my computer, an accomplishment I hoped would fix the issues between some eurorack synth modules and my computer, but no dice. Fortunately he was able to connect both my MacBook and PC to my large monitor so I can now just work on the Mac if I so desire.
Speaking of eurorack, for Christmas Jennie gave me a couple of gift certificates for gear. I ordered two much needed modules, only to discover they went out of stock before my order could ship. The new shipping date kept being pushed back, until last week it was sometime in May.
The one module I most needed was the least expensive and I knew I could easily use two, so, having found one available from another source, I ordered it anew. Although the module was shipped promptly, challenging weather across the country delayed its passage, and I only received it yesterday, more than a week later.
Then, Monday night I heard from the first company that the backordered modules were being shipped and should arrive by week’s end….
