  1. One of my favorite months! Sweet and sad at the same time. Summer is over, school starts, the harvest is ripening. Enjoy that heated mattress pad!

    1. We are all enjoying it, thank you. Our old one died in the spring; they seem only to last 2-3 years. We discussed not replacing it but that would be folie. Do enjoy this September time.

      1. Somethings must be replaced!

I am already loving September. What a month!

  2. Thank you for sharing that child boarding the bus dog following moment. I could visualize that based on your description and that gave me a moment of joy in the midst of all happening in my state and the world.

    1. I felt joyful as well. What a connection the dog and child must have. The dog was definitely the larger of the two.

  3. I’m horrified about the US involvement in the Israeli war on Gaza. We have no business there.

    1. How many times in our lives have we said that, I ask myself. Oi! I’m reading William Stafford and seeing all of us reflected in his work. I love that he kept being Native and kind.

  4. “Collaboration is challenging, rewarding when it is successful, and the source of many a failed project and/or friendship and marriages.” You hit the nail on the head, Dr. Watson. I think as musicians, especially in an ensemble context, we understand the depth of this statement more so than in other disciplines. The notion that what makes a good ensemble (collaboration) consists of individual ‘star’ soloists is a huge misunderstanding. Yes, it can be comprised of 100% stellar soloists (best in their art genre) but not by necessity. Most important is if the individuals allow themselves to become enablers/vessels in the ensemble (collaboration) adding their bits – making it as one unique entity. To quote the misquoted Aristotle: “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts”
I’m impressed with your taking on such a project in short order – I hope to read about it in a future post!

    1. We were back in the art studio this morning after a preparatory trip to the coffee shop. We’ve at the tricky stage when the loose pages need to become a book. Each page is about 8×11 and uneven. The pages are woven so figuring out how to cement them together to prevent shifting, then binding them are the next tasks. In the end we hope to have an accordion book that stands alone so both sides can be viewed. The sound/music is coming along and does not have to be finished quite as soon. I’ll post photos and sound when they are ready.

        1. I thought the sound would be the easy part. Apparently not. LOL!

  5. The news is often overwhelming, and I often have to turn to diversions similar to yours: football, music, friendship and creativity.

As you know, we are in the north but things are still mild. After six weeks with no or little rain, things are now beginning to change. My son would say “Typical” as his season starts this Sunday!
