We made it to the park and spent a majestic day on the lake. Jennie took the kayak out before I managed to bring out either camera so there is no documentation of her voyage. Suffice to say she enjoyed the warm water and bright yellow water lilies. (I had just been listening to a program about the centrality of water to early Mediterranean cultures, and the historical rots of The Odyssey, and was primed for the water.)
A bit later I did the same. It is always a treat for me to be on the water, even though the project of getting me there can be a bit taxing.
After seven hours at the beach we drove the brief distance into the village for a “small” “hard” ice cream. The snack bar’s version of small would be a mega large here in town, meaning we could have shared each cone with three other people. Oh, well, it is summer……
If you can’t indulge yourself with ice cream on a perfect summer’s day when can you? 🙂
Good point! We did of course. Resist those inner Puritans!
Sounds lovely Michael, and you did the exercise to make up for the ice cream!
I am not sure I did enough exercise to make up for the ice cream. Was awfully good ice dream, though. Lol!
