Healers, Patients, and the Fate of the World

There has been a lively discussion lately on the “Comments” section of this blog.  The discussion has centered on the need for contemporary shamans and healers of all ilks to understand, and respond to, the many social forces at play in the lives of individuals, families, and communities. This post builds on the prior post, and the comments that came in response.

Indigenous people are well aware of the growing social and environmental problems that confront humanity. Environmental collapse, economic distress, and addictions of all types disproportionally effect the world’s tribal people. Yet, increasingly, these plagues are undermining the health of all humans, and many other beings, and are growing in extent and severity. First Nations elders in the Amazon basin, and throughout the world, have called upon us to awaken to the growing threat. Continue reading
