A lovely mid-summer day, warm and not too muggy. This is a relief following last weeks raging heat. Still, the rabbits are grateful for the evening shade and the birds, mostly sparrows and robins, relish the bird bath. We finally had significant rain and the world has responded with deepening colors and happy plants.
This is a very brief update after a long silence necessitated by the vagaries of our move to Providence. Yes, we have gone full urban which we are enjoying. On our first real walk this morning we were thrilled to discover that a surprising number of our neighbors have done away with grass and planted small wildflower meadows that hum with insects. Pretty cool!
Yesterday was marked by a surprisingly pleasant and easy trip to the Department of Motor Vehicles, followed by a long and complex process of cancelling our old license plates. Oi! Bureaucracies!
Before the move we gave away a LOT. Still, the actual move took the movers fourteen hours to accomplish so that the last boxes came off the trucks at eleven in the evening Saturday before last. Today is the first day I have been able to use my office/studio; there remains only one half-filled box! Our art studio is unpacked, awaiting a major overhaul of the basement. Things would be much worse save for the kind aid of family and friends.
Nori the cat has begun to settle in and enjoy the urban views. She has also reverted to being a bit of a night owl so that she sleeps much of the day. I wonder, will we follow?
