  1. Sorry to hear you are under the weather and hope you feel better soon. We have seen many ospreys over the past couple of days, more than ever before, which is good. I hope the new nest will survive whatever the elements throw up this year.

    1. It is good to hear you have many osprey. We were picnicking and watching the osprey last night, and there were three adults on the nest. It was not always copacetic. We shall see whether the drama continues. Anyway, we are feeling better, thanks.

  2. Sorry about those colds! May they pass quickly.

I really enjoy your nature writing, your sense of place. Your descriptions are so vivid that I can almost see the area where you live. Looking forward to more descriptions of your new home and neighborhood.

    1. Thank you, Laurie. That is high praise indeed. We are both feeling slowly better. I am curious what writing about a very urban environment will be like.BTW we were picnicking and watching the osprey last night, and there were three adults on the nest. It was not always copacetic. We shall see whether the drama continues.

      1. Wherever a person lives, it all comes down to noticing. And to borrow from the great and good writer Verlyn Klinkenborg, in the pattern of noticing lies the art.

Such drama indeed! An osprey love triangle.

        1. The osprey nest seems to have calmed down.

  3. I’m sorry you and Jennie are feeling unwell and hope for good health soon.

Thank you for the spring report and for the book recommendations.

    1. Thank you, Audrey. We seem to be mending.

  4. We are still in Florida and your lead photo triggered so much joy in me. We will be traveling home in a couple of weeks and watching spring unfold in reverse as we go north. Michigan tends to have short, fast springs. When I talked to a friend up north about a week ago she said the trees were almost ready to bud out but they can leaf out in less than a week if the weather is warm enough. April is so fickle that we never know what we will get.

    1. I’ve seen the trees leaf out literally overnight in a warm rain. How was the trip north?

  5. Sue Monk Kidd is a fabulous writer. I haven’t read the book you suggest but will add it to my reading list. Thank you, Michael.

  6. Good news on the ospreys. I tend to think everything in nature learns as it goes on.

    1. They seem to be making a fortress!

      1. It may be needed!
