Last night we were out on the lake, kayaking near to shore, when we chanced upon an osprey nest, complete with fledgling and adult! The nest was in the branches of a fallen tree some feet from shore. What a gift! We are wondering whether this is the same pair that disappeared from a nest near our home, a few weeks ago. Anyway, we stayed a good distance from the nest. A jet-ski that came after we had moved on did not. I suspect the rider was unaware of the birds. Given the age of the chick, I image the osprey have seen quite a few jet-skis and other motorized craft. Here’s wishing the osprey well!
