A grumpy, gray day. Windy and chill. It is difficult to believe that just a few miles inland the weather is much more springlike.
On Saturday I went for a scooter ride through the neighborhood, looking for signs of spring. There were surprisingly few. Still, there are crocuses here and there, daffodils near blooming, and color and early blossoms returning to the bare branches atop trees.

We’ve been focused on the move, an event that will unfold, initially slowly, over the next three months. We’ve packed hundreds of books, and given away a couple of hundred more. Now boxes of all sizes dot the house. We are trying to have the house feel like home even as we dismantle it, so for the next while packing will be strategic.
Nori the cat had a hard weekend and had to endure two trips to the vet. She now seems to be feeling a bit better, although she is definitely not herself. Surely the chaos in the house is not helping her anxiety, and thus, her digestion.
Vet visits undid our plans to attend the local No Kings protests but we drove by and honked. The turnout seemed by far the largest to date. To all of you who did show up, we extend our deep and abiding gratitude.
