Stormy

A wet, very windy day. This storm is passing to our west which puts us in the intense winds and very warm sector of the event. We are told conditions will degrade as the day goes along, before quickly calming down by late afternoon.

Yesterday the authorities in charge of finding the Brown University shooter, who also killed a MIT professor, were able to put together a profile of the suspect and a region wide manhunt began. Local media carried the search live, reminding all of us of the hunt for the Boston Marathon bombers. We were told there was no immediate threat but we should stay informed and attentive as he might strike again. The drama was so intense I missed an important online meeting. In the end the shooter took his own life and authorities believe no one else was harmed.

While there is a noticeable sense of relief here this morning, the damage done is immense. It appears the gunman was a mentally ill former Brown student from the early 2000’s. So much suffering. For many there will be little joy this Holiday. Our hearts go out to all who were touched by this latest madness.

  1. Indeed, too much. Too much. I’m sorry for the trauma you experienced on the East Coast, a trauma which touches us all indirectly.

    1. Thank you, Audrey. It felt like an instant repeat but there is now a kind of closure, even as much healing lies ahead.

  2. Such a sad, tragic story. The day began with strong wind and rain which let up in late afternoon, allowing rays of the setting Sun to light the top of the hill across the valley, always a stunning sight after a dark day. The wind got back up, however and has been blowing things about to the consternation of the cats.
