A warm sun-lit day. Heavy rain overnight left leaf covered cars and a few puddles. There is a stiff westerly breeze which brings a chill to outdoor excursions.
While many of the trees are now bare, the Japanese maples have mostly retained their leaves and colour. Their reds and maroons now dominate the landscape, along with rich brownish reds of some late oaks. Here and there individual leaves of other species hang on, or flutter briskly down in the stiff breeze.
This morning the small herd of deer was again in the field. Watching them we noticed our neighbour was feeding them something that looked like bread. They came up close to him and waited so obviously this is an ongoing interaction. He carefully only gave them small amounts, which should be OK, and they seemed happy. This may explain why the deer are hanging around the field more of late.
This afternoon is the closing of our group art show. Its been up for some six weeks now and it is definitely time for it to come down. If there is an audience we will play the sound that accompanies our visual piece.
As I sit here at the computer, the sky is slowly clouding over. The temperature is forecast to drop throughout the afternoon. It is indeed a mid-November day. Winter cannot be far off.
